Piece of calico or other material *
Large, heavy-duty rubber band
* Large enough to extend up a few inches over the sides of the lamp base when the lamp base is sitting squarely in the middle of the piece of material.
Set lamp base in the middle of the material. Carefully cut a small "X" in the cloth near the cord and pull the cord through. Slide the rubber band up the material (pull cord out from behind it) to the top of the lamp base. Make sure the rubber band is secure. The ends of cloth should be hanging over the rubber band. Grasp corners of cloth and loosely tie in single knots, then roll and tuck excess cloth around the lamp base until it is neatly tucked up, but be sure the rubber band does not show. Tie some raffia around the top of the lamp base where the rubber band is secured.
