Cheese Straws from Heaven

Yield: about 24 straws

Ingredients

  • 1 package frozen puff pastry
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Defrost puff pastry.
  2. Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
  3. Sprinkle half the Parmesan cheese onto a work surface, lay the unfolded pastry on top of it, then sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin, pressing the cheese into it, to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Cut the pastry into long 1/2-inch wide strips, give each strip several twists, then lay them 1/2 inch apart on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake until golden, about ten minutes.
  5. Allow to cool slightly but serve still warm.
