I've tried a couple of molten chocolate cake recipes but the part of the cake which cooks is too spongy, souffle-like because of the high percentage of eggs in most recipes. The cake at Applebee's is more moist and fluffy, similar to a regular cake. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I like grating those two veggies cuz then you don't get huge chunks, but that's up to you. Sometimes I even use Bloody Mary mix for the juice - depends on my mood. It's very refreshing and low cal, low carb as well. ********** Lemon Chicken BreastsShared with recipegoldmine.com by Sassy 2 tablespoons flour Put flour, salt and pepper in a plastic food bag; shake to mix. Add chicken, close bag and shake to coat. Heat oil in a large, nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Add the chicken and cook, turning breasts over once, about 6 to 8 minutes until chicken is cooked through completely. Remove to a serving platter or dinner plates. Stir in caper's (optional) and parsley; pour on chicken. ********** Budget CasseroleShared with recipegoldmine.com by AJ 1 pound ground beef Heat oven to 350 degrees F. In large skillet, cook and stir meat, onion and green pepper until meat is brown and vegetables are tender. Drain off fat. Stir in tomatoes, rice, salt, chili powder and pepper; heat through. Pour into ungreased 2-quart casserole. Cover; bake 1 hour. Makes 4 to 6 servings. ********** Peas and Onions PastaShared with recipegoldmine.com by AJ 1 pound pasta of your choice (I prefer fettuccine or small size spaghetti) To cook the pasta, follow package directions. Generally, bring 4 quarts of water to a heavy boil, and dump in the pasta, along with a tablespoon of oil (margarine or olive oil). Leave the cover off so it won't boil over. Stir to separate the pasta. Cook the pasta for the time mentioned on the package, starting the count from when the pasta is dumped into the water. Taste a piece to see if it is the texture you like. While the pasta is cooking, heat the butter or margarine in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and saut about 4 minutes, just until they begin to turn translucent. Add the garlic and saut for one more minute. Add the peas, basil, oregano, salt and pepper, and saut for about 2 minutes. Add the wine and allow to steam for about 5 minutes, or until the peas are done. Serve over pasta with butter and Parmesan. Makes 4 servings. ********** Corn and Black Bean DishShared with recipegoldmine.com by AJ My children like this dish. One likes more hot sauce for his serving. I have that at the table. They ask for this dish. 1 can creamed corn Saute onion and pepper in butter. Brown the onion for about 3 minutes, then add rest of ingredients. Simmer for about 20 minutes or until well-blended and onion is translucent. Serve warm, with rice or pita bread. Makes 4 servings. ********** Baked Macaroni and CheeseShared with recipegoldmine.com by AJ This is the recipe I have been using for years now. It comes from the Family Circle Cookbook. I have tried making this with less margarine but it just doesn't taste the same. 1 (8 ounce) package elbow, shell or other small macaroni Stir macaroni into a large saucepan of boiling salted water; cook, stirring often, just until it is tender; drain. Spoon macaroni into an 8-cup baking dish. Make sauce: Saute onion in butter or margarine about 1 minute; blend in flour, Worcestershire sauce and salt; cook, stirring constantly, just until bubbly. Stir in milk; cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and bubbles 3 minutes; stir in cheese until melted. Pour over macaroni, then mix in. Combine the bread crumbs and butter or margarine; sprinkle in a ring on top of the macaroni and cheese. Bake in a moderate oven, 350 degrees F, for 30 minutes, or until the center is bubbly hot and the crumbs are toasty and golden. Makes 6 servings. ********** Hungarian Onions For Mashed PotatoesShared with recipegoldmine.com by AJ 1 tablespoon butter Melt the butter in a skillet and toss in the onions. Cover and cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Uncover, raise heat a bit and saut for 10 to 12 minutes until golden. Add the paprika. Stir over lowest heat for a minute or two until the paprika has lost its raw taste. Serve these with mashed potatoes along with a dollop of sour cream. Makes 4 servings. ********** Easy Baked Fish FilletsShared with recipegoldmine.com by Cara 1 1/2 pounds grouper or other white fish fillets Heat oven to 425 degrees F. The best part, besides the delicious taste, is that it is so easy to make! 1 gallon Sunny Delite orange juice Combine all ingredients and chill. New England Maple and Blueberry CornbreadThis is Yankee cornbread. In the north, bakers tend to add more sweeteners to their cornbread than Southern cornbread which has little or no sugar. This recipe is not only sweetened but sweetened with pure maple syrup. The recipe calls for blueberries but raspberries or cranberries would be good also. We made this recipe in a nine-inch cake pan. You may choose to make muffins or make it in a skillet. If you make muffins, increase the heat to 425 degrees and bake the muffins for ten minutes or so. (The higher heat will help the muffins dome a little more.) We served this cornbread hot with a dab of butter and then drizzled with real maple syrup. New England Maple and Blueberry Cornbread (or Muffin)1 cup whole wheat flour Heat the oven to 400 degrees. 1. In a medium bowl, mix the dry ingredients together, the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt. 2. In another bowl, whisk two large eggs. Add the milk and melted butter. 3. With a spatula, mix the dry ingredients into the liquid mixture. Stir until just combined. Carefully fold the berries into the batter. Do not mix enough to spread blue juice throughout the batter. Spoon the batter into a well-greased nine-inch pan. 4. Bake for 23 to 27 minutes or until done. If you remove the bread from the pan by inverting the pan, the crust will be crunchier. Serve warm. Cook's Tip! To give mashed potatoes a special flavor, add 2 cloves of peeled garlic and a bay leaf to the potato cooking water. Remove bay leaf after draining potatoes.

Keep the plants on the dry side as there are less healthy roots to absorb the water around the root ball. If the days become intense and bright, cover lightly with upturned pots or a couple layers of newspaper to keep the strong sun rays from stressing the plants further. The tomatoes should make new roots rapidly and the wilting will end. Do not reapply fertilizer for a while and when you do, use 1/2 recommended strength for one month. In the future, it is best not to feed any new young plants for several weeks while they adjust to the new environment. The existing soil will have plenty of food for them. A. If you have a beautiful azalea (or hydrangea) and would like to have more plants, there is no reason to go out and spend money. You can actually grow new plants by taking stem cuttings. Once the plant is finished blooming, then you are ready to take a cutting. Remove about 4-6" of a green stem. Half the stem cutting is going to be under soil, so remove all the foliage. Do not tear it off or you might damage the bark. Instead, use scissors or clippers and just clip off the leaves. Cut the stem on a 45-degree angle just below the leaf node. Next, dip the stem into a rooting hormone. Then place it into a small pot, with a mixture of 50% perlite/50% soil. Put the stem about 3" down into the soil. Keep your new stem cutting moist at all times until it is completely rooted, which can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks. In no time, your plants will root and you can go ahead and repot them. And within a year, you may be enjoying some beautiful blooms. To retain moisture, you can put the pot and cutting in a plastic bag, but check the moisture level every day and let it breathe for about 15 minutes. From HDTV ~~~~~~~~~~ "My cookies tend to be hard and dry. When my sister makes the same recipe, hers are moister and softer. What am I doing wrong?" My father is an accomplished cookie baker. If you ask him what his secret is, he'll tell you: "I don't over-bake cookies." The difference between a just right cookie and an over baked one is dramatic. Make cookies uniform in size. Not only are they more attractive but different sizes of cookies take different times to bake. Most recipe writers tell you to leave the cookies on the sheet for a minute or two. Cookies continue to bake on a hot baking sheet. Sometimes that's necessary for an easy release but for most recipes, remove them as quickly as you can. If the cookies look a little soggy in the middle, you may leave them on the sheet for a few minutes and they will firm up but remember, they are also drying out. Most cookies should be gold in color, not brown. Both the amount of sugar and soda in the recipe will affect how fast a cookie browns. Chocolate cookies represent another challenge: you can't tell if they are browning. If you are baking with a new recipe, bake a few cookies and check them for doneness before baking the entire batch. Chocolate cookies will tend to lose their "wet" look when done. Dennis Weaver at The Prepared Pantry.
