Your Choice Cake

This is an old-time recipe.

1 (18.25 ounce) box cake mix*
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening
1 tablespoon water

Combine all ingredients using one of the flavor variations below. Stir until well blended. Drop onto ungreased jellyroll pan and top as desired. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes.

Variations:
To chocolate, add 1 teaspoon instant coffee

To cherry, add 1 cup chopped nuts

To yellow, add 1 cup chocolate chips or 1 cup peanut butter

To white, add 1 tablespoon cinnamon

To orange, add 1 tablespoon grated orange rind

To lemon, add 1 tablespoon lemon peel

To spice, add 1 tablespoon candied citron
