1 cup butter, soft
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 1/2 cups brown sugar
4 eggs, separated
2 cups flour
24 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Dash of salt
Cream butter with white sugar and 1/2 cup of the brown sugar. Add 2 egg yolks, flour, vanilla extract and a dash of salt. Mix well. Pat evenly on bottom of buttered and floured 16 x 8-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
Beat 4 egg whites until stiff enough to hold a peak. Slowly beat in the remaining brown sugar. When glossy and smooth, spread over chips. Bake 30 to 35 minutes in oven preset to 350 degrees F.
Cut into small squares.
