Play Dough

2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon alum
1 tablespoon liquid shortening

Mix together, then bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add food color or Wonder Colors, if desired, then pour over flour mixture and stir. It will be lumpy. Knead thoroughly as soon as it is cool enough to handle. Keep in airtight container when not in use. Stays nice for a long time.
