Pencil Container
This isn't unique, but the verse that goes along with it is really cute.
Use an empty, washed, clean vegetable or fruit can. Cut a strip of white
paper the width of the can and long enough to wrap around the can and lap over
a little. Either finger paint onto the paper or do a drawing. Wrap the paper
around the can and glue in place.
Wrap grosgrain ribbon around the top of the can and glue in place. Make a
copy of the verse and laminate the verse. The edges of the verse paper may be
cut with fancy craft scissors. Glue to two overlapping popsicle sticks....long
enough to fit down into the can with the verse remaining above the can. Place
the stick in a little puddle of instant floral foam that hardens as it dries.
Here is the verse:
This little can, made of tin,
Was washed and saved to use again.
I added paint. I added glue,
And made a present just for you.
It's for your pencils or your pens.
And you can show it to your friends.
It's not empty, for you can see,
It's filled with love to you from me.
The child's name is signed at the bottom of the verse before it is laminated.
