1 envelope unflavored gelatine
1/2 cup cornstarch
3 tablespoons sugar
2 cups cold water
Food color, Wonder Colors, or Tempera (powdered or liquid)
Liquid dishwashing detergent
White shelf paper
Soak gelatine in 1/4 cup warm water and set aside.
In a medium-size saucepan, combine cornstarch and sugar. Gradually add water,
and cook slowly over low heat, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes or until well
blended. Remove from heat and add the softened gelatin. Divide mixture into
separate containers for each color. For each color, add a drop or two of liquid
detergent and then the coloring, drop by drop, until you obtain a shade you
like. Food coloring is best for this. Store paint in the refrigerator for up
to 6 weeks.
If you would like to make sure the paints remain usable for a long time in
storage, add a few drops of glycerin to the mixture when you add the liquid
detergent.
