Hanukkah candles are colorful and each person in a family can actually have
an individual menorah. This is a grand family project, and it's even reusable
next year.
Large metal nuts (from Dad's toolbox)
Glue
Half-filled jars of paints and glitter flecks
Sample of bathroom tile*
* Pick up sample pieces of colored bathroom tile from a showroom that sells
such products in your community. Your children will make their own menorahs,
but you can enjoy doing one with them, so be certain to have enough tile for
everyone!
Use an ordinary hardware nut for the circumference of a Hanukkah candle and
drop a dab of glue on the top of the nut. Wow! You've already made one candle
holder. Do this in any shape you want, making sure you haven't forgotten the
shamash.
Paint around the nuts, even painting each nut if you want, any design or
squiggle, in any color or colors. Then, if you want sparkle, drop some glue
and sprinkle your glitter any place that you like. The excess will blow off
with one swoosh of breath, but the glitter will adhere to wherever you've put
the glue.
Print your name on the tile instead of lots of paint decorations, or after
you've painted the tile.
Insert the shamash and candle number 1. You're ready for Hanukkah!
