Wow! A crazy, colorful and quick bread that the kids will love!
Makes 1 loaf (about 24 slices).
2 1/2 cups Gold Medal all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup small gumdrop, cut in half
1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired

Hold the nuts! Some kids have serious nut allergies, so check with parents before sharing this gumdrop goodie.
Squeeze those gumdrops in the store. Look for soft and moist candies for best bread results.
