Fuzzy Navel Gooey Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon peach schnapps
  • 1 tablespoon Grand Marnier or triple sec
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix*
  • Confectioners' sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cream together the cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer.
  3. Add the liqueurs and egg and beat until creamy.
  4. Add the cake mix until incorporated.
  5. Drop a tablespoon of dough into a bowl of confectioners' sugar. Roll in the sugar until coated.
  6. Place onto a parchment lined cookie sheet at least 1 1/2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for approximately 8 to 12 minutes. The top will crack when they are done.
  8. Cool on a wire rack.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe.
