Chocolate Lady Fingers
This is another one from My Grandmother's cookbook dated 1944.
Yield: 3 dozen
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons cream or milk
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Oil a ladyfinger tin or a cookie sheet.
- Beat egg yolks until thick.
- Add the sugar and beat until light and thick.
- Add vanilla extract, salt and water.
- Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder together and add it alternately with the cream or milk.
- Beat the egg whites stiff and fold into batter.
- Bake in oiled ladyfinger tins for 10 minutes. If Ladyfinger tins are not available, shape dough into lady finger shapes on the prepared cookie sheet and bake.
