3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
4 tablespoons molasses
2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Combine ingredients in order given. Shape into balls the size of walnuts and dip tops in sugar. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
