Wedding Cake
4 bath towels
4 hand towels
4 washcloths
2 rolls individually wrapped toilet paper
1/4 yard fine netting
1/4 yard terry cloth
3 pairs adult knee socks
1 toilet paper tube
Wedding cake decorations (bells, doves, etc.)
Silk leaves
12 pasta shells, painted to match fabric
Approximately 20 small silk flowers
Cover top of each toilet paper roll with washcloth. Hold with rubber band.
Bottom layer: fold and roll 3 bath and two hand towels around toilet paper
roll (4 1/2 inches high x 14 inches around). Overlap slightly or butt up to
each other and tape.
Middle layer: fold and roll 2 washcloths, and 2 hand towels around toilet
paper roll. (5 x 7 1/2 inches)
Top layer: fold and roll one bath towel around toilet paper tube. Trace its
diameter onto cardboard. Cut out circle. Cover with terry and fasten to bottom
of layer.
Make covering for layers as for diaper cake, with terry. Slide over and tuck
in as for diaper cake.
Glue cake ruffle to cake base. Stack cake layers.
Make ruffle for bottom edge by folding 5 knee socks lengthwise and pinning
into gathers around base.
Drape a sock around middle layer of cake. Gather up in 4 places with terry
tabs trimmed with fabric flowers and wedding favors.
Pin bells, doves, leaves, shells and flowers to layers.
Cut 3- and 4-inch squares from netting and attach to bells.
