Apple Brown Betty

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread, cubed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Dash nutmeg
  • Dash salt
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 cups cooking apples, peeled and chopped

Instructions

  1. Mix bread cubes with butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and brown sugar. Arrange in alternate layers with apples in crockette.
  2. Cover and cook for 2 to 3 hours or until apples are tender.
  3. Serve warm with cream, hard sauce or ice cream.
