Dill Pickle Chuck Roast with Gravy

Directions are given for both slow cooker and Instant Pot® cooking.

Ingredients

  • 1 chuck roast
  • 1 envelope dry Ranch dressing mix
  • 2 envelopes brown gravy mix
  • 1 (1 liter) jar garlic dill pickles

Instructions

Slow Cooker Instructions

  1. Place the roast in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle the Ranch dressing and the brown gravy mixes over the roast. Pour the jar of pickles with the juice over the top of the roast. Arrange the pickles around the roast.
  3. Cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours.
  4. Serve the gravy over mashed potatoes

Instant Pot Instructions

  1. Place the roast in the bottom of an Instant Pot.
  2. Sprinkle the Ranch dressing and the brown gravy mixes over the roast. Pour the jar of pickles with the juice over the top of the roast. Arrange the pickles around the roast.
  3. Place the lid on the top.
  4. Choose whether to slow cook (on newer models) or to pressure cook.
  5. To slow cook, cook all day on slow cook.
  6. To pressure cook, use the "stew/meat" button and cook on high pressure for 90 minutes for a small, butcher quality roast or 120 minutes for a large, grocery store quality roast. You can manually release it or let it naturally release.
  7. Serve the gravy over mashed potatoes
