Sweet and Sour Beef
Cooking oil
1 (3- to 4-pound) chuck or blade roast
1 onion, chopped
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Heat a thin film of oil in a saute pan; brown meat 3 to 4 minutes per side.
Transfer to crock pot.
In a bowl whisk together onion, mushroom soup, water, brown sugar, vinegar,
salt, mustard and Worcestershire; pour over meat. Cover and cook on LOW for
12-16 hours.
Serve with stuffing or mashed potatoes.
Serves 6 to 8.
Nutrition values per serving: 850 calories, 58 g fat (23 g saturated), 19 g
