1/2 cup regular margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (16 ounce) can chocolate syrup (1 1/2 cups)
1 cup plus 1 teaspoon sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Icing:
6 teaspoons regular margarine
6 teaspoons milk
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease well a 15 1/2 x 10-inch jellyroll pan.
Brownies: Beat margarine with sugar until light And fluffy. Beat in eggs,
two at a time, And vanilla extract; mix well. Stir in chocolate syrup.
Sift together flour, baking power and salt. Stir into chocolate mixture.
Add nuts. Pour into prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 22 to 25 minutes
or until slight Imprint remains when touched lightly.
Icing: Combine margarine, milk and sugar in saucepan. Stir to mix. Bring
to a boil and boil 30 seconds. Add chocolate chips; stir until mixture Thickens
slightly and cools. Stir in vanilla extract. Spread over cooled brownies; cut
into squares.
Makes 5 dozen.
