Dumplings:
1 1/4 cups self-rising flour
1 ounce butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup milk
Mix flour and butter until coarsely mixed. Add sugar, milk and vanilla extract;
stir well. Set aside.
Sauce:
1 ounce butter
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups water
Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan. Stir constantly until boiling.
Reduce heat. Drop tablespoons of dumpling dough into simmering sauce. Cover
and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
