Dessert Topping and Sauce Recipes
Spice Cake Sauce
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 1/4 cups boiling water
1 large lump butter
1 ounce brandy, Bourbon or Scotch (optional)
Mix sugar and flour together in pan. Add a little cold water and stir until
mixed. Put lump of butter into boiling water and slowly add to the first mixture.
Cook, stirring constantly, until thick. Remove from heat and add alcohol if
desired. Serve immediately over squares of spice cake.
