Try this clever technique; wrap eggs tightly in cheesecloth and then color as
usual with a dark egg dye. You'll be amazed at the intricate and beautiful designs
the cheesecloth leaves behind.
You will need one package of cheesecloth, which can be purchased either at a
grocery store or craft store. Cut a square big enough so that the whole piece
can be twist-tied together, completely encasing the egg. Make sure to pull the
cloth tight enough so that the weave opens up to make a distinct pattern. Then
using either commercial or homemade dye, color the egg for just a few minutes,
remove and dry on paper towels. Wait until egg is completely dry to unwrap.
Darker dyes show up the best.
