Layer the following in a quart-size jar:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
1 cup toasted sesame seeds *
* To toast sesame seeds: Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Toast sesame seeds on an ungreased baking sheet until light brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Watch closely so they don't burn.
Add the following recipe on a gift tag:
Sesame Seed Cookies:
Mix contents of jar with 3/4 cup melted butter or margarine, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Drop dough by 1/2 teaspoonsful, 1 1/2 inches apart, onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees F until light brown, about 4-6 minutes. Cool about 2 minutes before removing from baking sheets to wire rack to cool completely. Store in tightly covered cookie tin when thoroughly cooled.
Yield: about 6 dozen
