One of several lepidopterous insects which construct, in the
larval state, a baglike case which they carry about for protection.
One species (Platœceticus gloveri) feeds on the orange
tree. This means that they are like a moth or butterfly, but
lay eggs in huge hanging baskets or bags. The larvae form and
then develop into a voracious insect which will attack your
trees and shrubs. Then, they will fly away and spread their
young once again!
Please remove any evidence of them and discard promptly away
from your gardens. Then, apply insecticides which I listed above
and follow the label directions carefully. wash your hands with
warm soapy water and possibly wear a mask when using. Spray
in the early AM and on a very still, breezeless day.
