Cough Syrup recipe

12 ounces sugar
17 ounces water
2 cups elecampane roots, chopped
1 handful hyssop

Heat sugar and water until sugar is dissolved. Add elecampane roots and heat gently. When you detect a menthol scent, add a handful of hyssop. Cook for two more minutes. Remove from heat; allow to cool; strain and bottle. Take a teaspoonful three times a day.
