Funny Cake

A Mennonite favorite!

Ingredients

• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup cocoa
• 1 cup hot water
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 cups granulatedsugar
• 2 eggs
• 1/3 cup oil
• 1 cup milk
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Combine the 1 cup sugar, cocoa, hot water and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract in a small bowl. Set aside.
3. In another mixing bowl, cream together the 2 cups sugar, eggs and oil, then add remaining ingredients.
4. Pour creamed mixture into two (9 inch) pie crusts and then pour chocolate mixture on top.
5. Bake for approximately 45 minutes. Test with a wooden pick for doneness.
