42 (2 1/2 x 1-inch) Club crackers
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup slivered almonds
Place crackers in a single layer in a foil-lined 15 x 10-inch baking pan.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add sugar; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; add vanilla extract. Pour evenly over crackers; sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately remove from the pan, cutting between crackers if necessary, and cool on wire racks.
Store in an airtight container.
Yields 3 1/2 dozen.
