German Red Cabbage
4 slices bacon, chopped
1/4 cup onion, chopped
6 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons vinegar
4 cups shredded cabbage (about 1 head)
Fry bacon. Add onion and saute slightly. Add brown sugar and vinegar. Add cabbage and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes.
Makes 12 servings.
