Spooned Halvah
Yield: 16 servings
6 tablespoons butter
2 cups water
1 cup Cream of wheat
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
Cinnamon
Melt butter in a deep pan; add cream of wheat and nuts. With wooden spoon
stir over moderate heat until golden, about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile bring water and sugar to a slow boil.. Cook 3 minutes.
Pour syrup slowly over Cream of Wheat and simmer, stirring until slightly
thickened. Remove from heat. Cover; let stand 10 minutes.
Shape with individual molds, turn out onto plates, and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Or, alternatively, pour into an ungreased 9-inch inch square pan and sprinkle
with cinnamon.
Cut into squares and serve.
