Brick Alley Bread
This bread is very easy to make and tastes delicious hot out of the oven.
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Mix flour, salt and baking soda.
- Combine beaten egg with buttermilk and honey. Add to dry mixture with a few quick
strokes to form a sticky dough. Do not over-mix.
- Shape into a small flat, round loaf on a greased baking sheet. Cut two parallel
slashes on top about 1/2 inch deep.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes.
Makes one (10-slice) loaf.
