Apple Rum Buns

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 cup strained apple sauce
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg

Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons rum or 1 tablespoon rum extract
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Confectioners' sugar

Instructions

  1. Bread: Boil the 1 cup water and butter for 10 minutes. Cool to lukewarm.
  2. Dissolve yeast in the 1/2 cup warm water.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients like any sweet dough. Punch down.
  4. Shape into buns and bake at 400 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes. Glaze.
