Make one simple frosting base that creates a variety of frosting colors and flavors!

Yield: 10 servings (2 tablespoons per serving); about 1 1/4 cups
Gel food coloring can be found in craft or grocery stores wherever candy and cake decorating supplies are sold. Use 1 drop for a lighter shade of color, or 2 to 4 drops per cup of frosting for deeper, brighter shades.
One cup of frosting will cover 3 to 6 cupcakes, depending on decorating style.
Red Raspberry: Combine 1 cup Frosting Starter and 2 tablespoons seedless raspberry jam in a bowl. Add 2 to 4 drops red food coloring gel and mix well.
Blue Almond: Combine 1 cup Frosting Starter and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract in a bowl. Add 2 to 4 drops blue food coloring gel and mix well.
Yellow Lemon: Combine 1 cup Frosting Starter and 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract in a bowl. Add 2 to 4 drops yellow food coloring gel and mix well.
Purple Grape: Combine 1 cup Frosting Starter and 2 tablespoons grape jam in a bowl. Add 2 to 4 drops red food coloring gel and mix well.
Green Mint: Combine 1 cup Frosting Starter and 1/2 teaspoon mint extract in a bowl. Add 2 to 4 drops green food coloring gel and mix well.
Orange: Combine 1 cup Frosting Starter and 1/2 teaspoon orange extract in a bowl. Add 2 to 4 drops orange food coloring gel and mix well.
