Banana Fudge Cookies

Yield: 3 1/2 dozen

Ingredients

1 (18.25 ounce) box chocolate cake mix*
1/3 cup mashed bananas, ripe
1 egg
2 tablespoons water
6 ounces semisweet chocolate pieces

Instructions

Combine cake mix, bananas, egg, and water in a bowl. Beat with electric mixer at medium speed until smooth.
Stir in chocolate pieces.
Drop by rounded teaspoonsful, about 2 inches apart, on greased baking sheets.
Bake in a 350 degrees F oven for 8 minutes or until done.
Remove from baking sheets; cool on racks.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
