Strawberry Supreme Pound Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 2 sticks butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Red food coloring
- 2 teaspoons strawberry flavoring
- 1 (10 ounce) package frozen strawberries
Topping
- 1 (10 ounce) package frozen strawberries
- Red food coloring
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon almond flavoring
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
Cake
- Cream shortening, butter and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each one.
- Sift flour with baking powder; alternately add with strawberries.
- Add flavorings and food coloring.
- Pour batter into a greased and floured Bundt pan.
- Place in cold oven; turn on to 350 degrees F for approximately 1 1/2 hours.
- Remove cake from pan. Top with Topping.
Topping
- Bring all ingredients to a simmer for 3 to 4 minutes. Apply to cake.
