Great Harvest Bread Company Brownies

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound butter, melted
  • 1 3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Dutch cocoa
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup nuts (pecans or walnuts), chopped

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add chips and stir until melted. Add melted mixture to cocoa in a bowl and combine. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip eggs with brown sugar.
  3. Mix flour with baking powder and salt. Add this dry mixture to egg/ brown sugar mixture.
  4. Mix in the butter/chips/cocoa combination.
  5. Stir in additional chocolate chips and nuts. (Some nuts and chocolate chips may be saved to sprinkle on top of the brownies before baking.)
  6. Spread batter into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan and bake for 25 minutes in a preheated 350 degree F oven.
  7. Cool before slicing.
