Chocolate Raspberry Dream Bars

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter

Topping

  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup raspberry (or strawberry) jam
  • 2 cups (11.5 ounces) milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F.

Crust

  1. Combine flour and granulated sugar in medium bowl.
  2. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press onto bottom of greased 9 inch square baking pan.
  4. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until set but not brown.
  5. While crust is baking, prepare the Topping.

Topping

  1. Combine flour, pecans and brown sugar in small bowl.
  2. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Spread jam over hot crust.
  4. Sprinkle with chocolate chips, then with Topping.
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
