Brown Gravy

Yield: 1 gallon

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces butter
  • 10 ounces all-purpose flour
  • 1 gallon + 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black or white pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in stockpot. Blend in flour and cook on medium heat, stirring frequently until golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes.
  2. Slowly stir in beef stock, onion powder and pepper. Blend well and bring to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened, 6 to 8 minutes.
  3. Serve over mashed potatoes, noodles, rice, meat or poultry.
