Streusel Strawberry Pizza

Yield: 8 to 10 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) white cake mix*
  • 1 1/4 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (21 ounce) can strawberry pie filling (or flavor of your choice)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine dry cake mix, oats and butter until blended; set aside 3/4 cup for topping.
  2. Add egg to the remaining crumb mixture and mix well.
  3. Press into a greased 12 inch pizza pan. Build up edges and flute if desired.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 minutes.
  5. Spread pie filling over crust to within 1 inch of edges.
  6. Combine the nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon and reserved crumb mixture; sprinkle over filling.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
  8. Cool on a wire rack.
  9. Refrigerate any leftovers.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
