Tastykake Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes

These were/are my husband's and my favorite cakes growing up. When I saw this recipe years ago it became a regular treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • Peanut butter, smooth
  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 1 tablespoon oil

Instructions

  1. Beat together eggs, vanilla extract, sugar and oil. Add flour, baking powder, salt and milk. Pour into a greased and floured sheet pan.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes.
  3. Remove cake from oven, and immediately spread with peanut butter. Refrigerate until hard.
  4. Melt chocolate pieces with 1 tablespoon oil and spread over peanut butter; chill until hard.
  5. Cut into squares.
