Shaker Nut Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour (all-purpose or whole wheat)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix sifted dry ingredients and nuts together.
  3. Combine egg, applesauce and oil. Add to dry ingredients. Stir until blended.
  4. Pour mixture into the prepared loaf pan.
  5. Bake for 50 minutes.
