Common School Blueberry Muffins


  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter


  1. Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease tins.
  2. Sift together dry ingredients; add blueberries to flour mixture and stir gently.
  3. Mix egg, milk and butter together. Add to flour mixture; mix only enough to moisten flour. Do not beat. Fill tins 3/4 full.
  4. Bake for 25 minutes.
