Soup, Chili, Stew and Dumpling Recipes
Skillet Steak Stew
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground round steak
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup fine bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 carrots, diced
- 1 cup celery, diced
- 2 potatoes, quartered
- 1 cup water
- Oil (to brown meat and onions)
Instructions
- Lightly brown meat and onions in oil. Pour off excess fat.
- Combine egg, 1 teaspoon of the salt, bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and 1 cup of the tomato
sauce. Add to meat. Stir thoroughly, and cook for several minutes.
- Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
