Skillet Steak Stew

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground round steak
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup fine bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 2 potatoes, quartered
  • 1 cup water
  • Oil (to brown meat and onions)

Instructions

  1. Lightly brown meat and onions in oil. Pour off excess fat.
  2. Combine egg, 1 teaspoon of the salt, bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and 1 cup of the tomato sauce. Add to meat. Stir thoroughly, and cook for several minutes.
  3. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
