  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease two baking sheets.
  2. Beat oil and sugar. Add eggs one at a time.
  3. In bowl, measure and mix together 2 cups flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, nuts and sesame seeds. Add flour mixture to egg mixture and add remaining flour as necessary to make a soft dough. Divide dough into four equal balls. Roll each to 12 inches long x 3 inches wide and 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes on prepared baking sheets.
  5. Remove loaves from oven.
  6. While warm, slice 3/4 inch thick diagonally or straight across. Place each slice cut side down back on baking sheet.
  7. Return to oven and lightly brown about 5 minutes per side to make a light toast.
