Spicy Beef Pitas

Ingredients

  • 1 pound thinly sliced cooked beef
  • 1/2 cup picante sauce
  • 1/3 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil or cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon snipped fresh cilantro or parsley
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 4 large pita bread rounds, halved
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1 medium avocado, sliced
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese

Instructions

  1. Place sliced beef in a plastic bag set inside a bowl.
  2. For marinade, in a medium bowl combine the picante sauce, vinegar, oil, cilantro, garlic powder, and pepper.
  3. Pour marinade over beef. Seal bag; marinate in the refrigerator for 4 to 24 hours, turning bag occasionally.
  4. When ready to serve, drain and discard marinade.
  5. Divide beef among pita bread halves.
  6. Add tomato, avocado, and feta cheese.
