Rich Chocolate Cheesecake

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box Duncan Hines deluxe fudge marble cake mix*
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 24 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semisweet chocolate pieces, melted and cooled to lukewarm
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • Fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  2. Reserve cocoa from small mix packet and 1/2 cup dry cake mix.
  3. Combine remaining dry cake mix and melted butter in medium bowl until well mixed.
  4. Press mixture evenly in bottom of pan.
  5. Combine reserved cocoa and cake mix, cream cheese, melted chocolate, eggs and cream in large mixer bowl. Beat for 3 minutes at low speed until well mixed.
  6. Spread filling over crust.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes. Do not over-bake.
  8. Chill before cutting and serving.
  9. Garnish with fresh strawberry halves.
  10. Store covered in refrigerator.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
