Chocolate Hanukkah Stars
Yield: about 4 dozen
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Confectioners' sugar to decorate
Instructions
- Beat together butter, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
- Separately, stir together dry ingredients (except confectioners' sugar), then beat into creamed mixture until well blended. Cover; chill until firm enough to handle.
- On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thick. Cut with a star (of David) shape cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 5 to 7 minutes or until no imprint remains when touched lightly.
- Cool for 1 minute before removing from pan.
- When completely cooled, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
