Crackle Top Ginger Cookies
Yield: 4 dozen cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup sorghum or molasses
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg and mix well. Stir in sorghum or molasses. Add dry ingredients; mix well.
- Chill dough thoroughly.
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Roll dough into 1 inch diameter balls. Roll balls in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8 to 9 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden.
