Frozen Yogurt

Frozen Yogurt recipe

Yield: 5 cups

Ingredients

Equipment

  • Food processor

Yogurt

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (higher fat, if possible)
  • 4 cups frozen fruit
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons honey or pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Add the yogurt, frozen fruit, honey or maple syrup and vanilla extract to a food processor.
  2. Pulse and blend until a thick "froyo" texture is formed. This can take a couple minutes, and you may need to push the mixture down occasionally. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  3. Serve and enjoy right away for a more soft-serve like texture. Alternatively, transfer to a loaf pan and place it in the freezer for about 30 minutes if you want it a little more firm.

Notes

You can use almost any fruit...peaches, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cherries, apricots, mangos, papayas, bananas, etc. or a combination of berries. Fruit with skin should be peeled. Cherries should just be pitted. Any fresh fruit you use MUST be frozen first. I sometimes substitute almond extract for the vanilla extract.
