Cajun Martini

  • 1 fresh cayenne or jalapeno pepper
  • 1 unopened fifth gin or vodka
  • Dry vermouth
  • Pickled green tomatoes, okra or eggplant (on wooden picks)


  1. Slice pepper in half lengthwise without cutting stem and put in newly opened bottle of gin or vodka. Fill remaining airspace with vermouth and recap bottle.
  2. Refrigerate for 8 to 16 hours.
  3. Remove pepper and store bottle in refrigerator until ready to use.
  4. To serve, fill pitcher with ice and pour in martini. Strain into serving glasses. Garnish with pickled veggies on picks.
