Two-Ingredient Fudge

The most complicated recipe most likely will not produce a better fudge than this!

Fudge

Yield: 24 pieces

Ingredients

  • 3 cups (1 1/2 packages) dark chocolate chips*
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Line an 8 or 9 inch square baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray.
  2. Place the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk into a medium microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Heat on HIGH in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour mixture into the prepared baking pan. Smooth the top of the fudge mixture with a knife or silicone spatula.
  5. Cover with foil and refrigerate for a couple of hours until set.
  6. To cut fudge into clean squares: Before cutting, let the fudge sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the slab from the pan and set it on a cutting board. With a sharp knife or, preferably, a pizza cutter rocker, cut the fudge into 1 to 1 1/2 inch strips, then cut each strip into small squares.

Notes

* You will need 1 1/2 (12 ounce) packages chocolate chips as each package contains 2 cups. This fudge will also turn out great if you use only 2 cups or one package chocolate chips.

To keep parchment paper from slipping around the pan, brush some shortening or butter into the pan first.

Because there are only two ingredients in this easy chocolate fudge recipe, use high quality chocolate.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 to 2 weeks or in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 weeks.

To freeze fudge, wrap it tightly in wax paper, again in aluminum foil, and place it in a freezer bag. Freeze for a couple of months.

Variations

  • Use semisweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips, or a combination of both. You can also make white chocolate fudge with white chocolate chips!
  • A little salt in the fudge mixture enhances the flavors of the chocolate. You can also sprinkle a little flaky sea salt on top of the fudge.
  • Add a couple of tablespoons of butter when you melt the chocolate and sweetened condensed milk together to make it smoother and creamier.
  • A teaspoon of vanilla extract makes chocolate taste even better. Or add your favorite flavor extracts such as peppermint, almond, rum, orange or coconut.
  • Add your favorite stir-ins and toppings such as chopped peanuts, dried fruit, crushed candy canes, peanut butter cups, chopped up candy bars or festive sprinkles to match the holiday or occasion.
