Tarator Sauce

Serve this with fish.


  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 slice white bread, crusts removed and soaked in water
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2/3 cup olive oil
  • Salt, to taste


  1. Grind walnuts, garlic and salt in a blender or mortar.
  2. Add bread, squeezed dry.
  3. Add half the lemon juice and slowly add olive oil until you have a thick, smooth paste. Add more lemon juice according to taste.
